Transport Women Australia (TWAL) participated in its first career networking day for the year on 28 February at Magdalene Catholic College, Narellan in South West Sydney.
220 Year 10 students (in groups of five over four sessions) talked to specialists about career options, which were as varied as armed forces, police, nursing, early age care through to various trades.
Tracey Templeman and Di Caldwell-Smith from Transport Women Australia Limited represented the Transport and Logistics industry providing their backgrounds, as well as examples of the many roles available.
It was fast and hectic and from talking to the students we can give credit to our future workforce, they are going to be great. TWAL got the opportunity to engage on the truck and passenger transport industries as well as explain how jobs in the supply chain and logistics impact their lives and how they can work in these areas. Great to see more awareness and more students consider transport (even as a Plan B) as a future career.
