2024 Festival of Transport

13th September 2024

At the end of the August, Coralie and Jacquelene travelled to Alice Springs for the annual TWAL breakfast and the Transport Women Unite Red Ball.
They arrived on the Friday afternoon and after checking in Coralie returned to the Road Transport Museum to help with setup and attended the welcome drinks. They both returned on Friday morning to set up and to host the breakfast; TWAL has been hosting the breakfast for approximately 20 years and this year we had our largest breakfast ever.
After Jacquelene welcomed everybody to the breakfast and the weekend, they enjoyed a beautiful buffet breakfast before most people headed off to check out the museum. Coralie stayed behind to help the museum team set up for the Red Ball and I returned to the apartment to rest.
They both attended the Wall of Fame inductions during the afternoon where they saw 47 people inducted onto the Wall of Fame followed by Mr Gordon Martin of Martin Livestock Haulage and the late Mr Sam Sali of Sali and Son being named as Icons of the Industry.
On the Saturday evening, TWAL co-hosted the Red Ball and Dream Maker Awards with Nick Prus, the CEO of the National Road Transport Museum. They kicked the night off by presenting the 7 Dream Maker Awards Recipients with their awards; unfortunately, most could not be in attendance, and TWAL accepted awards on behalf of Ann Howard and Loretta Hartley and several of the recipients had others accept their awards on their behalf. The recipients were Anita Rogers, Ann Howard, Fiona Riley, Julie Thomsen, Linda Widdup, Lorena Tilman Hillers, and Loretta Hartley.
Unfortunately, they needed to leave before the Cummins race meeting on Sunday to return home but a successful weekend for TWAL and we look forward to the 2025 a reunion and Festival of Transport. 💃
