Last night in Sydney at their end of year dinner, Transport Women Australia Limited awarded Life Membership to Denis Robertson who has supported the association unstinting for almost two decades.
Denis has been the auctioneer at most conferences, is always available for advice and mentoring and provides pro bono freight services when TWAL is in need of them, as do several companies. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for TWAL, his willingness to assist has sometimes sent him on a wild goose chase.
The presentation was a complete surprise to Denis as the Board and his family managed to keep the secret. He was joined at the dinner by his wife, Lois, his children, Carla, Geoff and Mark and his son-in-law, Corey. He was presented with a plaque and a beautiful bunch of flowers, to everyone’s amusement and his embarrassment. Well, we do give flowers when we give awards to our female members.
This is the second Life Membership conferred by TWAL this year as they honoured former chair, Pam McMillan in June at their Driving the Difference conference.
