National Women in Rail, Roads & Transport Infrastructure Leadership Summit

27th February 2025

By Jacquelene Brotherton

What a day on Tuesday, I was in Sydney for the National Women in Rail, Roads & Transport Infrastructure Leadership Summit and was greeted on arrival by the amazing Liquid Learning team of Róisín F. and Elaine Condon before heading to a meeting with Transport Women Australia Limited Corporate Member and sponsor RT Health representatives Alison Weatherill, Kate Cuthbertson and David Lawrence-Watt.
This was followed by my presentation “Steering progress for the road less travelled” which was a Part II of my presentation from 2024. Immediately after completing the session and answering many questions, I joined the Transport Women Australia Limited Corporate Member and sponsor TWUSUPER (to become TEAM Super in March), Zoe Campbell and Varenya Mohan-Ram to discuss the changes ahead.
Following our meeting I returned to the Summit and because of the 6 degrees of separation, I sat at the only seat available which was next to Bronwyn Courts who was also from “Back of Bourke” and whose sisters had attended and boarded at the same Convent as my sister Ann Howard and myself, whose parents knew my late parents and who was able to share photos and updates of some of my favourite nuns (Sisters of Mercy) from my primary school days. It was an absolute highlight of a great day.
After all this catching up I joined a panel of two amazing women, Natalie Bond and Rachel Simpson, facilitated by the incredible Heidi Horne to discuss Setbacks into stepping stones – Keeping your career on track.
It was a long day but so worthwhile and fulfilling, I am already looking forward to the 2026 Summit and staying for the full program.
Thanks also to Nicholas Pond.
