“You cannot be what you cannot see”

But what if what you see is not what you are?

TWAL Member Ann Lopez represented TWAL at the “What’s my Line” Career event as part of our partnership with Inspiring the Future for year 6 students at Seven Hills West Primary School on the 8th April 2024.

The students were faced with the challenge ‘what’s my line’ as Ann was disguised in her plain clothes. She was variously assumed to be a Pharmacist; an Engineer; working in Construction; a Banker; a School Principal; a Builder; or a Real Estate Agent.

Along with 5 other volunteers, they were able to show some potentially new career pathways for the young people to consider. Everyone was surprised that Ann’s career was in the transport industry. Her pink vest was not what everyone was expecting – and the model truck she bought along was almost as good as Optimus Prime!!! Ann may not drive trucks herself but that’s what makes the transport industry so interesting – the range of opportunities that are available for everyone to develop a rewarding and sustainable career.
